Public transport

The Hotel is just a few minutes by foot from the train station in Locarno. Whether you wish to marvel at the beautiful valleys of the Locarno region and all of its other fascinating features, or be enchanted by pristine nature, you can get to many of Ticino’s tourist attractions from the station, with national train and bus connections.

Not far from the Hotel you will find the jetty which is the point of departure for the many trips on Lake Maggiore and to its beautiful islands.

By car

Take the exit for “Bellinzona Sud, Lago Maggiore” from the A2 motorway and follow the road signs for Locarno. In Locarno, follow the shoreline of the lake in the direction of Muralto. The Hotel Lago Maggiore is located on the lake promenade, at Viale Verbano 25, in Locarno-Muralto.

By train

Locarno can be reached by way of a stunning train journey through the Alps, taking around two hours from Zurich or Lucerne, and three hours from Basel or Bern via the new Alptransit Gotthard Base Tunnel.

The Hotel & Lounge Lago Maggiore can be seen on your left as you arrive into Locarno by train. Once you have arrived, follow the road alongside platform one of the station for two minutes, and then head down towards the lake. Here you will find the main entrance to the Hotel.
